Effective implementation of the Asian Hornet Monitoring Box involves strategic placement and regular monitoring:

• Placement: Boxes should be placed in areas where Asian hornet activity is suspected. Ideal locations include near beehives, flowering plants, and known nesting sites.
• Monitoring: Regular checks of the boxes are essential to identify and record any captured hornets. Data collected from monitoring efforts can inform broader pest management strategies and contribute to scientific research on Asian hornet behavior and ecology.

Once you have caught an Asian hornet

Place the monitoring box in the freezer for a minimum of 2 hours preferably 24 hours.

Then report it via the government Asian Hornet Watch App available to download from the Apple and Android app stores.
